Career Path and Inspirations

Maurício de Oliveira is a Brazilian writer whose work moves freely between lyric poetry, objective aphorisms, and chronicles brimming with lyricism and everyday irony. His writings seek to capture what is universal in the particular, revealing the beauty and perplexity of everyday life.

Influenced by philosophical schools of thought and major figures in literature and poetry, his writings frequently address consciousness, the inexorable passage of time, the search for sufficient reason, and the complex relationship between the individual and the social structures of our time.

"Language belongs to the people. Only to the people. To no one else. And it is perfect. In the mouths of the humble, it is even more perfectly imperfect." — Language (Poetry)

Philosophy of Writing

For the author, writing is not merely a way of recording thoughts, but a mirror of existence itself—an attempt to organize the chaos inherent in the human experience. In his poetry, the verse serves as both music and an outlet; in his prose, he seeks the ultimate distillation of emotion; and in his essays and reflections, he lucidly explores reality.

The website is his open notebook, where he shares his artistic and intellectual musings with readers from all over the world.

Career History

He started working as a teenager as a salesman at a shoe store. Later, he worked as a teacher, bank teller, audio technician, copy editor, court clerk, administrative assistant, matrix programmer, and vector programmer. He is also interested in mathematics and physics, and even studied mechanical engineering for a year.

All of this reveals the author’s restlessness, his need for new experiences, his appreciation for the diversity of life and culture, and his thirst to explore the various corners of the world and the diverse perspectives and viewpoints of individuals, cultures, and societies.

"From all that I’ve experienced, I’ve learned many technical things, but I was even more captivated by the human side—the people, the friends, the disagreements, the hardships, the accomplishments. It was all worth it—it was worth observing the diversity, exploring the world a little bit through each person’s perspective—and I’m captivated by culture, the richness of human life, and the universe itself. I’m fascinated by all of this." — Maurício de Oliveira
